The History section is just like your browser's history feature but for all of your downloading.

Each entry here can be customized by right-clicking (Control-Click) on it. More details for each of the items in the contextual menu can be found here.

As well, you can limit the number of items stored in your 'History' section in the GENERAL section of the Speed Download preferences.
