If you're big on file sharing, then the Received Files section will be of great importance to you. This is the central location where you can see all incoming files from other Speed Download users. Remember, file sharing amongst other Speed Download 5 users is totally encrypted for maximum security.

You can even manually add files from anywhere on your hard disk to this folder and share them with any other SD user. It's real easy. After adding a file to the Received Files folder, right click (control-click) on Received Files in the Speed Download main window, and select 'Refresh listing'. To remove a file, simply delete it from within Speed Download.

If you right-click (control-click) on any entry in Received Files, you will be presented with a contextual menu of very useful, powerful, and easy to use features.

Some important things to note about security settings in for the Received Files folder:

  • Guest users: when connected to your Speed Download machine, guests users can only see files at the root of the Received Files folder, as well as the files that other Guest users sent only. They cannot see files that registered user sent.

  • Registered user accounts: are accounts that you create for certain users in the File Sharing section of the SD preferences. When connected to your Speed Download machine, these users can see files at the root of the Received Files folder, files that Guest users sent, as well as all files that they have sent. They cannot see files that other registered user accounts sent.

  • Very important to note: user accounts setup for file sharing within Speed Download are completely separate from the user accounts you create on your computer via the Mac OS X system prefereces. This is an intentional feature added for even more security.
